The federal mandates of Education Department of US have made it to be a board of national school which takes away control from local and state levels, according to US Sen. Lamar Alexander. He also said that state needs to come for their plans’ approval-the plan about educating their students.

He also said that the congestion of the mandates is caused by programs as No Child Left Behind and Race to the Top. He said that they’ve together imposed the federal standards regarding what the children need to know in math and reading and they have coerced some of the states into having standards of Common Core adopted, and they have imposed the federal definitions regarding how state ought to measure principal, school and teacher performance.
Alexander said that in the previous week, a plan of 1150 pages was presented to Senate Democrats that freezes mandates into proper place and also creates twenty-five latest programs while also ordering around 150 new requirements of reporting.

Further, Alexander said that the Republicans did vote to move to different direction and that they offered 220 pages plan for helping the children in the public schools get to learn what is required and also be capable of restoring the responsibilities to communities and states and also giving parents and teachers flexibility, choice and freedom.

The plan of GOP “Every Child Ready for College or Career” does emphasize that the decisions do remain in local and state level, according to Alexander.

He said that it does reject the federal mandates which create national board for schools and prohibits Education Secretary to prescribe accountability systems or standards for states and that it continued requirement about states having quality tests and high standards, though those standards are not prescribed by it.

Alexander said the GOP plan does make it easy for the states to provide to the parents with low income more choice to find the suitable public schools, along with encouraging expansion of the charter schools. Also, it encourages the states to create programs of evaluation for educators which are free from federal mandates and offering the states much flexibility while spending federal funding for education.

That wasn’t a proposal only for Republicans and it is believed that the proposal represents views and would attract support of the governors who are leading charge for the education reform, the teachers who do value freedom for teaching, parents who like more choices regarding their children, as well as state legislators working for the better schools.
In the meantime, Alexander said that plan of Democrats established national board for school and such proposal really states that they do not have trust on parents, classroom teachers or the state to take care of them and assist in educating their children. He further said that they all want someone at Washington to deal it for their cause. Alexander said that he rejects that completely and the responsibility is placed by our proposal, for helping the children to learn squarely when it has to be, over the communities and states.
