Getting into the specifics about Visa Mastercard, It’s important to clarify how credit cards work. There are two separate entities Visa and Mastercard issues.
Visa and Mastercard used separate networks and a Visa doesn’t work with a Mastercard network and same thing a Mastercard doesn’t work with a Visa network. This is the main difference between Visa and Mastercard. There are several differences in the specific card you have, all cards don’t give you the same service. There are many other types of cards e.g. American Express, Discover, etc, but anyone will agree with me there are two that truly stand out, Visa and Mastercard. These two are widely accepted all over the world including in the US and they shaped the industry more than any of the others. They have been able to build a very strong brand with many companies and in almost 60 countries consumer uses their card and this ensures that their website is more secure. There is a common misconception that Visa or Mastercard is a bank, I’m clear to you that these are not banks, they do work with the banks but they identify themselves as a technology company. Your credit card interest or fees that go to your bank can’t be Visa or Mastercard. These tech companies make money from the bank whoever issuing the card.
