Knowledge of diet and weight management is essential in present days where 60% of Americans and Canadians are overweight and the number is rising every day. Because overweight increases the probability of chronic diseases like hypertension, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, etc. To overcome this situation we need to be conscious of our health and maintain proper weight management strategies for achieving healthy weights. There are so many techniques for weight management to help a person to maintain a certain weight. Most techniques impact your lifestyle and it’s a long-term process that promotes healthy eating and regular physical activity. With proper weight management, you can able to track the best way for you. Diet, genetics, physical activity, environmental factors, illnesses, and medication, there are so many factors that affect a person’s weight. But professionals like dietitians, nutritionists give priority to diet and physical activity because they can be controlled by human activities. Energy balance, proper diet, physical activity, and basal metabolic rate are the key components of weight management. But there are some complications like the thermogenic effect of food, genetics, medications, and diseases. For weight management here are some strategies such as increasing protein intake, modifying plate size, eating more soup, choosing low-calorie foods, eating more dairy, incorporating more vegetables into meals, increasing fiber intake, increasing resistant starch intake, capsaicin, increasing caffeine intake, increasing green tea intake.
