1. Ensure There Are Entry Points

One of the most effective ways to make sure that your home is free from mice is by making your home rodent-proof. You can do this by finding out the entry points for mice and then eliminate them. This might be hard since mice can get into your home by squeezing themselves into small holes.

The easiest way to know whether or not a hole can be an entry point for a mouse is to see if you can put a pencil into it. If you fit it into the hole, then there is a good chance that the mouse can get in.

You should also seal cracks and holes in the walls. If it is possible, you can use steel wool. You should avoid the use of wood, plastic or rubber. Those three are not good sealants because mice can chew through them quite easily.

2. Get Mouse Traps

What should you do if your home is already infested with mice? Then you need to buy mouse traps. If the mice infestation in your home is light to moderate, then you can still use classic wooden mouse traps. You should use plenty of mouse traps, even if you think there is only one mouse in your house.

It is normal to use a dozen mouse traps just to catch one mouse. Aside from the classic mousetrap, you can also use other types. It is good to use various types of mouse traps, such as bait traps and glue traps. By doing this, it will increase your chance of catching the mouse.

3. Choose the Bait and the Strategic Place for Mouse Traps

For the bait in your mousetrap, you can use the food that the mice in your home have been eating. Of course, you can always use foods that are known as the favorite food of mice such as peanut butter and dried fruit. You can use a hot glue gun to secure the baits. Every two days, you need to change the baits to make them fresh. If your baits do not work, then you can change them with nesting materials, like feathers or cotton balls.

Aside from the baits, another thing you need to think about is the placement of the traps. To make sure that the mice run right to the bait, you should put the traps at 90 degrees of the wall. If the trap is not working, then you can consider changing the place of the trap in two days.

So, even though you can always ask for professional help to get rid of mice infestation in your home, you can also try to get rid of the pests yourself by doing these simple tips to get rid of mice in your home.
