Your relationship with your teachers is going to be significantly different as it used to be in high school.
You will have more than 100 classmates, so it is not realistic for your professor to remember your names. Most of the time, professors don’t know the names of more than half of their students throughout the school semester.
With that being said, it is still possible to establish a good relationship with your professors if you want to.
It is always good to leave a lasting impression on your teachers. It will not only help you out when you’re in college but you will also have made a connection for after you graduate.
Check the tips out
1. Reach class on time
Try to show up to class on time, and try to sit closer to the front. This shows the professor that you are interested in the course and eager to learn.
Coming to class late is probably the biggest mistake you can make. Its okay to be late once in a while but not consistently.
Professors find it highly disrespectful because it also interrupts their flow of teaching.
2. Listen and make eye contact
Don’t be those students who are always on their phone throughout the whole class. Even if you think you are being sneaky, you’re really not, teachers can see everything.
Pay attention and make eye contact. This shows the professors that you are actually listening to what they are saying.
Paying attention will not only leave a good impression but it will also help you out during exam season.
You will notice that you won’t have to put in that much effort because you were attentive during the lectures.
3. Ask questions
If there is something you don’t understand, raise your hand and ask! Professors like to see a discussion take place in class.
It is even better when you have follow up questions, because that shows them that you are provoked and want more answers.
But don’t overdo this to the point that you are asking pointless questions.
4. Make the most out of office hours
If you feel like you need paper writing help, just go to their office during office hours. That is literally why they have designated that time in their busy schedule.
Professors realize students may need extra help every now and then, and they are always very eager to help.
However, you should always make sure that you have something specific you want ask so you are not wasting their time.
5. Inform the teacher if you are going to miss a class
If you really want your professor to remember you name, you should inform them prior to being absent from their class.
Even though they probably won’t notice if you are not there, it is still respectful of you to inform.
Simply send them a quick email stating that you won’t be in class and a brief reason why.
