Requirements

Education:

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimally possesses a valid California credential authorizing the teaching in a Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe classroom as determined by assignment.
  • Area of Emphasis: Possess a valid California credential for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

Experience:

  • Successful student teaching experience with the Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing.
  • Teaching experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children or in a regular classroom is desired.
  • Have knowledge of the use of assistive listening devices and other assistive technology.
  • Must possess, or be eligible for a California credential authorizing services as a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver’s license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.

Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with visual impairments age birth through 21 years of age
  • Experience working with children with severe disabilities
  • Teaching experience in general education programs, elementary or secondary
  • Ability to use Sign Language
  • Bilingual

Salary

$37 – $47 an hour
