Job Responsibilities

System Design, Development, Integration and Testing:

  • Lead the design and development of diode laser spectrometer systems for pharmaceutical test and measurement applications.
  • Specify, select, and evaluate electro-optical devices, including tunable lasers, detectors, and beam optics.
  • Oversee the integration of optical hardware with electronic and software systems.
  • Design and execute test plans to assess system performance under varying conditions.

Scientific Programming and Software Development:

  • Write and maintain high-performance software for optical measuring systems using C/C++.
  • Develop and implement DSP algorithms for real-time processing of optical signals.
  • Design and implement algorithms for device control, signal demodulation, and noise filtering.

Prototyping and Testing:

  • Build prototypes and assess system-level performance against user requirements.
  • Develop and execute test plans documenting system performance.
  • Analyze data to identify and address design and performance issues.

Technical Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze data and performance metrics to refine and improve system capabilities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including physicists and mechanical, electronic, and software engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and scientists.

Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in designing and analyzing optical systems, including lasers, detectors, and optical components.
  • Hands-on experience with diode laser systems.
  • Understanding of phase-sensitive signal processing.
  • Programming skills in C/C++.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to lead technical projects and work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in designing and developing optical measurement systems.
  • Proven track record in optical system integration and instrument development.

Salary

$85,000 to $100,000 per year
