As a Senior Manager for the API engineering team, this role will bring technical and people leadership, team management and delivery responsibility for the API backlog.

  • Manage, build out, and mentor a team of high performing API and API infra engineers.
  • Set technical direction for building robust and scalable API products for end developers.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Develop APIs to meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate with front-end and back-end developers for seamless integration.
  • Ensure APIs are secure by following the latest security standards
  • Implement best practices for API development and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve API-related issues.
  • Monitor API performance and optimize as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies.
  • Continuously improve API architecture and processes.
  • Document API designs, implementations, and usage guidelines.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your three years of experience with API development and an additional two years of leadership experience and professional achievements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of leading a team in a team lead or management capacity with an emphasis on design and technical mentoring.
  • 3+ years of experience in API development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Experience with RESTful and SOAP APIs.
  • Strong understanding of API security best practices.
  • Familiarity with API management tools like Postman, Swagger, or Apigee.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of database technologies like SQL and NoSQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • You will be co-located with project teams, in a digital hub or at the relevant business location, with possible occasional travel.
  • Hybrid Office Arrangement – 3 days per week in office, 2 days remote work
