No doubt seeing a pooch wagging its tail as it walks around your office is cute. However, it turns out that there are more benefits to allowing pets at your workplace. Some of the biggest companies like Google and Etsy have led the way by incorporating pet-friendly policies and here is why.

1.     Reduced stress

The office environment can be quite stressful sometimes especially when you are under pressure. According to a 2012 study, people who are around a dog at their workplace feel less stressed compared to those who leave their pets at home. You can take a one-minute break and watch the pets playing and it completely changes your mood.

2.     Exercise

Everybody should get up and take a 5-minute walk every hour to avoid issues with the spine. Unfortunately, few people do that because they are too busy trying to meet deadlines. When you have a pet in the office, you have to get up now and then to make a run. You must go check on it, feed it, and take it for a walk or bathroom break and all that. When you get up and take your mind off the assignment, your mind relaxes and you come back with a fresh perspective. Be sure to have some Acana Dog Food with you to give your pet the energy to motivate you all day.

3.     More commitment

In today’s world, employees are not just looking for a good paycheck. They want comfort and benefits. Allowing the employees to come with their pets to work is one of the greatest benefits you can offer as an employer. They get to spend the day near their beloved pet and even get a chance to take them for an afternoon walk instead of hiring a walker. This employee will have no problem working late because their pooch is right there with them. It’s the same reason why corporations have a baby nursery at work to promote productivity, concentration, and commitment.

4.     Improved interaction among staff

There is a reason why so many couples meet in parks when they are walking their dogs. Pets have a way of connecting people and making you talk. When you go out to check on your pet, you will inevitably have time to chat with your fellow pet owner. This improved interaction, brings harmony to the workplace and makes people team players.

5.     Comical relief

Pets are usually very instinctive, especially to their owner’s emotional state. When your dog or cat notices that you look rather stressed, they walk to you and just rub their bodies against yours. Some can come up with the funniest things just to make you laugh. No doubt having a pet around will cheer people up around the office.

Happy workers are productive workers. However, even as people consider the feelings of employees, it’s important to consider the well-being of the pets as well. Their comfort must be number one, so you should take all the necessary measures to ensure that.
