4 Easy Things You Can Do To Improve Your Life

You know you probably need to start an exercise routine, overhaul your eating and do something about your life, but it all sounds so exhausting. Does this sound familiar? Maybe you even know that you need to start with small steps, but you can’t start looking at all the steps. Instead of tackling something big, take on something small. You can start changing your life today, right now, with the tips below.

Things To Do To Improve Your Life

Start Over

No, you don’t need to burn down your life and assume a new identity. Instead, think that right now is the only moment that is real. What has already happened is just a memory, and what may happen in the future is just a series of probabilities. You can start over right now. Take a deep breath and tell yourself that from this moment, you are starting fresh. You can do this as often as you need to. You don’t need to wait for a big event like a new year or a birthday.

Save Money

You don’t have to sit down right now and overhaul your entire budget. Just do one thing that will help you save some money going forward. Maybe you’ll throw $10 cash in an envelope right now and promise to do the same thing every week for a year.

Maybe you’ll pledge to start cycling the three miles to work instead of driving or taking public transportation. It doesn’t take long to find out if you can consolidate your costly student loans with a private lender. This can not only save you money but may make it easier to keep track of bills since you only have to keep up with one due date.

Shift Your Sleep Schedule

If you are like most people, one or both of these things is true that you are not getting enough sleep, or you want to get up earlier than you already do. Starting today, make a small adjustment to your sleep schedule, going to bed five minutes earlier or getting up five minutes earlier.

If you want both of these things, go to bed 10 minutes earlier and get up five minutes earlier. Each day for the next couple of weeks, shift your schedule by a few minutes. Within two weeks, you’ll have changed your sleep schedule by a whole hour. Do five minutes seem like too much? Make it one minute. In 30 days, you’ll have shifted your schedule by half an hour and by an hour after 60 days.

Make Incremental Progress

What is something that you really want? This shouldn’t be something that you think you should want or that others want for you, and maybe it shouldn’t even be anything very practical, like something to do with your career. Perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn Japanese or write a book.

Maybe you dream of hiking a long-distance trail over a period of weeks or months. Right now, or later today, or tomorrow at the latest, do something in support of that dream. Download a language app and do the first lesson. Write 200 words. Take a walk around the block. Do something small every day or every few days that takes your life another step closer to that dream.
