What to Look For in a New Fridge

According to experts, most refrigerators have an estimated lifespan of 12 years. Keep in mind, though, that this is the average. Your fridge will likely last a longer or shorter time than this.

In all likelihood, you’ll need to purchase a refrigerator before you know it. When you do, your new fridge must have certain important features. Read on to learn about what these features are.

Get a New Fridge That Fits

Fridge

Did your old fridge fit snuggly into a space within your cabinet set? A potential new refrigerator may not fit in this space.

Yes, you don’t necessarily have to buy a fridge that fits in the old one’s space. You can put it somewhere else. If you do, though, it may look rather awkward to any guests.

To prevent this issue, make sure that you measure the cabinet gap. You can then prioritize getting a fridge that has the most suitable dimensions.

Research Possible Accessories

Many refrigerator models come with extras and many don’t. You may be able to add accessories to fridges that don’t come with them. This isn’t a guarantee, though.

Make sure that you know what extras you’ll want to add in the future. Then, when you come across a potential fridge model, research to make sure this extra will fit.

For example, you may want to get a GE refrigerator water filter. If so, you need to make sure that you can attach the water filter you want to your new refrigerator before you buy it.

Purchase a Fridge With the Right Color and Finish

Fridge color and finish may not seem important next to functions and features. However, you probably will grow to hate a fridge that doesn’t match the rest of your kitchen’s decor. The wrong fridge can make the decor appear cluttered.

Therefore, take note of the design and color of what’s already in your kitchen. Consider what you want your new fridge to match. For example, you may want to purchase a fridge that will match the colors and styles of other appliances in the kitchen.

Consider Your Household’s Food Storage Needs

Do you have a large number of housemates? Well, they’re all going to need food. In this situation, you will probably want to buy a fridge that will accommodate all your household members’ food needs and wants.

The opposite is true if you have a smaller household. In general, you should track the eating habits of your whole household before you start shopping.
