When summer is approaching, and spring is getting warmer every week. Going into the heat with a malfunctioning air conditioner is a bad idea… especially if it is blowing hot air instead of cold, refreshing air that makes your home cool and pleasant.

Why Is My House So Hot with The AC On?

Air Conditioner Not Keeping Up with Thermostat Check your thermostat and ensure that it is set on cool. In Arizona we know that the weather can go up and down. Although, we can all agree that cool A/C is important. If it is on heat, switch is to cool, and you are ready to go.

Low on Refrigerant or Freon

When an A/C is blowing out hot air, a refrigerant or Freon leak is most likely the culprit. If there isn’t enough Freon in the air conditioner it is likely to freeze up. It is best to leave this up to your local HVAC contractor.

Dirty Air Filter

Every spring and early summer make sure that you change out your filter. If you have a maintenance plan with your local HVAC contractor, they will ensure that your air conditioning filter is properly cleaned and installed.

A dirty filter can clog your air conditioner’s condensing coil with dust and contaminants causing your A/C to freeze up, hence your air conditioner will not be cooling your home properly. A dirty, clogged air filter can block air flow. It can also cause a backup and damage coils inside of the air conditioner. This is a super simple fix and is cheap. Make sure that you change the air filters regularly so that this problem doesn’t happen.

The Bigger Issue

If your air conditioner is more complicated (like an outdoor unit), then simply have a profession like the people at  Worlock Air Conditioning & Heating come out to change the filter for you. It’s not an expensive repair but it can save you from having to have very costly repairs done.  Outside A/C unit not properly maintained.

Take a look at your outside condenser of your AC. It is dirty or covered with debris? Again, having a maintenance plan will ensure that your air conditioner is cleaned properly. Making sure that the condensing coils are cleaned regularly is critical in proper cooling function of your A/C. If your compressor isn’t working, then the AC will not be able to make cold air. It simply won’t be able to cool the air off inside the system, and then push it out and into your home.

This is a more complicated fix and should always be done by a professional. The compressors will need to be replaced so that the unit can properly filter the air, turning it cold and refreshing.   Unfortunately, most home owners wait until it’s hot to test out their AC. This can make you very frustrated. Not only is it hot and your air conditioner is offering no relief, but, like you, many others waited until the last minute as well. So, service providers are exceptionally busy, causing long waits for you to get your system repaired. Remember it is always good to contact professionals to fix your ac it’s not functioning correctly.
